Furmark®-certified fur can be traced back through the supply chain. This follows pilot traceability schemes which were put in place (testing the robustness of the process as fur moves through the supply chain) in autumn 2018 with the main auction houses as well as targeted manufacturers and dressers and dyers. The traceability system has been designed and developed by a team of independent experts experienced in textile traceability.
The objective is to trace fur from its origin to its endpoint, ensuring the same level of confidence and assurances exist across every stage of the supply chain. The Furmark® traceability platform is – rightly – designed to work in harmony with existing systems.

The Digital4U Furmark Platform is fully integrated with Furmark labelling to ensure that certified garments carry verified digital information and deliver a high level of security, transparency, and traceability across the supply chain.
The platform supports the secure recording and management of Furmark certification data, linking physical labels to digital records that can be accessed by brands, partners, and consumers. While many commercial brands will adopt a standard implementation, IFF recognises that some high-end brands may wish to tailor their Furmark® communications.
The Digital4U platform supports this flexibility through configurable on-garment and digital communication options. The Digital4U Furmark Platform went live on 12 January 2026 and now underpins Furmark’s approach to digital traceability.
